1st
Class GradeBook was originally created because a group of teachers could not
find a gradebook program that was easy to use and had all the features they
wanted. Some teachers were using
existing gradebook programs while others were struggling with a spreadsheet.
Teachers
using a spreadsheet complained of long hours spent trying to get the
spreadsheet to do what they wanted.
They also found they were not confident in the numbers their spreadsheet
produced.
The teachers using existing gradebook
programs had the following complaints:
a)
Counter-Intuitive
b)
Not
Easy to Use
c)
Complicated
d)
Visually
Displeasing
When the first version of 1st
Class GradeBook was introduced at a teacher’s conference for input from a wider
audience the response was overwhelming.
A large number of sales were generated even though 1st Class
GradeBook was not officially “For Sale”.
After improving 1st Class GradeBook based on input from the
conferences the first publicly available version of 1st Class
GradeBook was released.
The design for 1st Class
GradeBook continues to be based on input from teachers. We welcome and act on suggestions for
improvements to 1st Class GradeBook.
