Example:
bsmith, h:\users\bsmith\bsmith.usr
jdoe, h:\user\jdoe\jdoe.usr
Etc.
Once the “USER.LST” file is in the 1st Class
Directory, every time 1st Class GradeBook is started it will prompt
“USER ID” before asking for a password.
If you try to run 1st Class GradeBook and you are not
prompted for the “USER ID” then the “USER.LST” file is NOT in the 1st
Class GradeBook directory or is not spelled correctly. (FOR SURE!)
Note that you, as a system administrator, can bypass the
user id prompt by renaming the “user.1st” file temporarily. You may want to do this if you intend to
update the default settings in the config.user file.
Note if you run 1st Class GradeBook without
logging in under a user ID you must be careful not to change any setting in the
setup unless you want to change the default setup. You must also ensure that you perform a “File – Close” before
exiting 1st Class GradeBook. If you exit while a database is open all new users will
automatically attempt to open the database file that you left open. This is most likely not desirable unless you
are intending on starting all teachers with a demo database (which will not
work if they have read access to the 1st Class GradeBook directory).
