1st Class GradeBook
allows you to drop the lowest score for each activity type (category). If you activate this feature, the lowest
score in the specified activity type will be excluded from the student’s
average (as if you had manually excused him/her, except the letters Low EX will
replace the mark on all reports). If a
student’s lowest mark is duplicated, 1st Class GradeBook will choose
the activity with the higher total point value. The Marks screen will not be affected by this option.
1st Class GradeBook will
allow you to choose several grading methods. You can choose from a strictly
points grading system, weighted categories and equally weighted activities
within a category.
Choosing “Use Points” under activity weighting instructs 1st
Class GradeBook to use the total possible points as the weight for that
activity. This in turn means that the
weighted average will now actually be the points which a student has achieved
for a given activity type. In short,
the weight column in the reports will be replaced by total possible points
achieved by the student. Grades can be
calculated several different ways. 1st
Class GradeBook supports all different calculations methods. You must be sure that you have selected the
method that is appropriate for you.
Here are the different methods:
