7.  Point Value – Weighting Individual Activities

7.1 Terminology

7.1a) Raw Total Points:  The total possible points achievable on a given activity.

7.1b) Point Value:  The weight or value that each point is worth. (see 7.2b)

7.1c) Total Points:  The total possible points weighted by the Point Value.

         The relationship can be described by the following formula:

 Raw Total Points * Point Value + Total Points

 

7.2    Point Value

7.2a)  Click on the advanced option in the upper right of the “Mark” screen.

7.2b)  Enter the weight or value you want each point to be worth in the student’s average.  A point value of 0 would cause the activity to be removed from the student’s averages altogether.  A point value of 0.5 would mean that the activity will be assigned only half its normal weight.  For example, if a given student achieved 18/30 and you enter a point value of 0.5, 1st
