Note that
all the activity type weights add up to be equal to the TERM 1 AVG. This means that Term 1 and Term 2 will be
equally weighted.
At the beginning of Term 3, you would then delete the Term 1
AVG from the Term 2 database. Create
the new term 3 1st Class GradeBook database file (using the “New
Term” option from the “Term” menu). Use
the “Import Averages from Previous Term” option to bring in the Term 1 averages
from your Term 1 database file and the Term 2 averages from the Term 2 database
file. Again, make sure that the
activity type weightings for the Term 1 average, Term 2 average, and the sum of
all the Term 3 activity type weightings are equal as in the below example:
Activity Type Weight
-------------------- ------------
TERM 1 AVG 100
TERM 2 AVG 100
Tests 30
Labs 20
Homework 10
Final Exam 40
Repeat
these steps for each new term.
Strategy 2
The second strategy is similar to
the first strategy except that all the final averages from each term are
imported into a single database we will refer to as the ‘summary database’.
Create the summary database using the “New Term” option from
the “Term” menu. Using the “Import
Averages from Previous Term” option from the “Term” menu brings in averages
from Term 1, Term 2, and Term 3 etc.
The summary database will now hold only the final results.
If you have any special activities
(like a final exam) you would like to directly include in the final average,
you can use the “Import Averages from Previous Term” option to import these
activities as well. Make sure you do
not double count such activities.
