Q. What's the best way to teach myself college algebra? i had to drop my intermediate algebra class this semester because my classload was too heavy. if i don't have college algebra done by the end of next semester, however, i have to wait another year to get into nursing school. what's the best material to study to take the clep? is there an easy-to-learn method for this? i don't like math much, but i catch on fast.

Try a program called Teaching Textbooks. They are expensive ($185), but well worth it. You can do it on the computer or in the book. My son actually likes math now after using this program!

Your best bet: A lot of practice. Get a book. Read the Chapters. Do ALL of the problems. If you can, find a study group, and practice with them. If you're still having trouble, find a tutor. But, if you've got the will, that'll be the way. :)

Algebra 2 book to teach myself? first gets best? hey im trying to make an effective summer by teaching myself algebra 2 so that i will be ahead when school starts. i have been looking through some books on amazon, but i don't know what book can teach me thoroughly and easily. McDougal Littell has an excellent series of algebra 2 books (I use the 2007 edition to teach my classes). Examples are well illustrated and worked out in detail. Online help is also available at www.classzone.com. Check with your school to see what the curriculum covers, so you don't spend time on topics not included in the course (for example, we include chapters 1 through eight, then skip to 13 and part of 14 to cover some trigonometry).
